Learnerships


Learnerships are educational programmes that combine workplace experience with structured learning (i.e. theory and practice) that lead to a nationally recognised qualification. Workplace experience is attained by learners working for employers for the duration of their learnership.

  • To promote and accelerate quality training for all in the workplace
  • To promote employability and sustainable livelihoods through skills development
  • To improve standard of living and reduce poverty through increasing employability

Employer Benefits

  • Tax incentives are offered for learners who successfully complete workplace training
  • For every learner already employed by a company, that company is eligible for R 50 000 tax rebate
  • For every unemployed person recruited by a company to complete a learnership, that company is eligible for a R 60 000 tax rebate

Learnerships offered:

  • General Education and Training Certificate in Transport: NQF1
  • National Certificate in Freight Handling: NQF3
  • National Certificate in Professional Driving: NQF3
  • Fundamental Unit Standards of all qualifications from NQF1– NQF3
  • Should an organisation not wish to partake in an entire qualification, individual unit standards or groups of unit standards can be completed as a skills programme.
